How we’re all connected: Earlier this winter I stumbled upon a podcast that made my American Studies major heart sing. Dolly Parton’s America examined how Dolly Parton’s fandom stretches to all walks of American life including groups who otherwise have nothing in common. It’s hosted by Jad Abumrad, creator of #radiolab on NPR. From the show’s website “In this intensely divided moment, one of the few things everyone still seems to agree on is Dolly Parton—but why? That simple question leads to a deeply personal, historical, and musical rethinking of one of America’s great icons.” It’s not to be missed if you’re a Dolly fan but even if you aren’t it’s a great look into a unifying force in this divided time. - A
