Perfect Avocado Retreats February 2021 Book Group

In 2014 when I was just beginning to have hot flashes I searched for books about what was going on in my body. And what I found was nothing. There was one book that everyone knew of written by a doctor but beyond that, crickets. Then someone suggested The Mad Woman in the Volvo by Sandra Tsing Loh. Madwoman is a hysterical memoir about one woman’s journey through perimenopause. It was so relatable right down to the teens going through puberty in the same house at the same time. It’s not a just for laughs memoir - she also includes science that I found really helpful. I have recommended this book dozens of times and read it myself three times. I’m excited to start my fourth read! Don’t take my word for it though. This New York Times article also includes a video of the author.
